Soldiers new pension policy: Kharge lashes out at BJP

New Delhi: AICC president Mallikarjuna Kharge on Saturday lashed out at the BJP government at the Centre over the new policy of pension for soldiers who are unable to perform duty due to medical reasons.

‘BJP’s fake nationalism is visible through this move. Narendra Modi-led government is always busy working against the welfare of soldiers, ex-servicemen’, Kharge posted on X.

At present, 40 percent of soldiers are unable to perform their duties due to medical reasons. “The current policy violates many of these earlier rulings, regulations, and acceptable standards”, he said.

“Even in June 2019, the Modi-led government, which had announced to impose a tax on this pension, had betrayed the soldiers even then,” he said.

According to media reports, it has been learned that the All India Ex-Servicemen’s Welfare Association has expressed its opposition to the new policy of providing pensions to soldiers who are unable to perform duty due to medical reasons and widows of deceased soldiers.
