BIJAPUR; 03 Feb: Deputy Commissioner, P. Sunil Kumar has directed the officials concerned to keep a strong vigil over the stone crushers of the district to check whether they are following all the government norms or not.
Chairing the District Task Force meeting here, he said that he said that any unit that is found to be violating the government order, would be dealt with iron hand.
Stating that safety is the first priority of the government while issuing licenses to the stone crusher units, he said that no mercy will be shown to cancel the license if the violation is found.
“ The officials should prepare the list of all such units that are running by violating the order. Since the government is very particular about the safety, the officials should not delay in taking action against the erring unit owners”, he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Geologist Nagbhusan said that three crushers units are operating in Baluti village of Kolhar taluk, of them two are working as they have required permission, while the operation of one unit has been suspected as per the order of Karnataka State Pollution Control Board as it was functioning by violating the order.
Sunil Kumar directed the officials of Bijapur Development Authority and City Corporation to check whether the units coming under their jurisdiction are working with the required permission or not.
He also asked them to check the functioning of the unit located near the proposed airport area in Burnapur village.
Stating that officials should get the survey conducted using drones, he said that drones will give information whether the owners of the units are operating within the permitted area or not.
Sunil Kumar asked them to tender for a drone survey.
The official of Mines and Geology informed that a total of 89 stone crushing units have got permission while 84 people have applied for new units.
SP, Anupam Agrawal who was present in the meeting said that the department of mines and geology should work in unity with the police to prevent any mishap and take action against those who are violating the government order.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ramesh Kalasad, AC, Rahul Shinde and other officials were present.
