Uniform Civil Code not useful and detrimental to country’s unity- AIMPLB

All India Muslim Personal Law Board’s (AIMPLB) General Secretary, Moulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani said that Uniform Civil Code (UCC) is detrimental to India’s unity and its introduction in the Rajya Sabha through a private bill is sad, according to a press note released by the All India Muslim Personal Law Board.

He further said the architects of the country made the constitution with the thought that every class will be allowed to live according to their religion and their culture and on the same principle, the Government of India has also made separate agreements with the tribals; so that they may remain contentedly citizens of this country without fear of being deprived of their individuality and identity.

He added, Muslims, Christians, Parsis and some other cultural groups in the country are living with their own personal law, and there will be no benefit in imposing a uniform civil code on all of them and this move may harm the country and affect the spirit of national unity.

He advised the government to focus on the real problems of the country and avoid such things that are useless and divisive.

he said, a uniform civil code for all religions and nationalities will not be useful at all, but it will certainly prove harmful, the party in power only introduces such bills to its members to strengthen its communal politics. The aim is to impose a single civilization on the entire country and to advance the agenda of Hindutva.
