We need Covid vaccine but not in harry to play with lives of people: M. B. Patil

BIJAPUR; 05 Jan: Admitting that the world desperately needs a vaccine to combat Covid-19 virus, Former Minister and MLA, M. B. Patil has made it clear that the quality of the vaccines cannot be compromised under the pressure of developing vaccines.

Addressing media persons on Tuesday, he said that all vaccines must clear the tests and trials before its usage on humans.

Replying to some of the opposition leaders casting aspersions over the quality of the Covid vaccine being developed in the country, Patil, without mentioning the name of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, said that PM should take the first shot of vaccine as he has been praising that the vaccines has been developed in India.

“ The BJP has been talking about ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat’ (self reliant India. In that case, he (PM) should take the first shot of the vaccine to prove its quality and effectively on the people against Covid”, he remarked.

He said that the vaccine should not be tested officially on humans without getting all parameters for the vaccines cleared.

Making it clear that people should not become negligent about the virus, he said that people should be careful and follow all guidelines strictly to prevent the spreading of the pandemic.

With regard to the new strain of Covid being found in the UK, he said that more study is needed to learn about the virus and its mutations.

“ We have been hearing that people with a new strain of Covid virus have been identified even in Bengaluru. The responsibility of the government is very high in ensuring that the new strain does not spread among the people”, Patil said.

He said that nobody still knows the effect of the new strain on the children.

About the bi-election for Belagavi Lok Sabha seat, Patil refused to comment about it.
