10 PhD holders, 94 lawyers apply for constable post in Andhra Pradesh

As many as 10 PhD holders, 94 lawyers and 1,03,961 postgraduates have applied for the posts of stipendiary cadet trainee police constables, for which the minimum qualification is a pass in intermediate.

The applicants included 1,55,537 graduates. Officials said this is the first time that PhD holders and lawyers have applied for the post of constable. On the other hand, as many as 1,73,047 applications were received for the post of stipendiary cadet trainee sub-inspector and the highest qualification of most of the applicants was a bachelor degree in science. There were also engineering graduates.
The AP government issued orders on October 20 sanctioning recruitment for 411 posts of sub-inspectors and 6100 posts of police constables.

The state police recruitment board received as many as 5,03,486 applications, of which 3,95,415 were male aspirants while 1,08,071 were women. The exam will be held on Sunday across the state.

The board received as many as 1,73,047 applications for sub-inspector posts.There are a total of 411 vacant posts, of which 315 are civil SIs and 96 RSI posts. It may be recalled that the government had raised the upper age limit by two years from 24 to 26.
