Assam Blast Case: 6 Accused Acquitted, Do you know what the victim’s family has to say in the case of 13 school children’s deaths?

The Guwahati High Court has acquitted all the six accused in the blasts that killed 18 people, including 13 school children, in Assam.

In 2004, there was an explosion in Dhemaji on the day of Independence Day, and in 2019, six people were convicted in connection with the case.

The United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) claimed responsibility for the attack. 18 lives were lost in the incident and more than 40 people were injured.

In 2019, the Dhemaji District and Sessions Court sentenced Leela Gogoi, Deepanjali Buragohain, Muhi Handik and Jatin Dubori to life imprisonment and Prashantha Bhuyan and Hemen Gogoi to four years in prison in connection with the case.

The convicts challenged this decision in the High Court. The Guwahati High Court, in its order, acquitted six people.

The victim’s family is upset with the High Court verdict and said that we expected the court to give us justice but all the criminals have been acquitted.

Another victim’s family said that the accused were released after 4 years of their sentence.
