Chhattisgarh Police arrested Hindu religious leader Kalicharan Maharaj on Thursday for his alleged derogatory remarks against Mahatma Gandhi, PTI reported.
Raipur Superintendent of Police Prashant Agrawal told PTI that they arrested the seer from a rented room near Bageshwar Dham, from Khajuraho town in Madhya Pradesh.
He will be brought here via road route by Thursday evening, the official added
An FIR was registered against Kalicharan in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur district on Sunday for allegedly using derogatory words against the ‘father of our nation’ Mahatma Gandhi.
On Monday, another case was also registered against him at Akola in Maharashtra in this connection, as per reports.
During the two-day ‘dharma sansad’ (religious parliament) held in Raipur on Sunday, the seer had allegedly used abusive words against the Mahatma Gandhi, and asked people to elect a devoted Hindu leader as the head of the government in order to protect the religion.
