Bengaluru: With an objective of studying the implementation of Kasturirangan committee report on eco-sensitive areas of Western ghats, the Karnataka cabinet has decided to constitute a cabinet sub committee.
The Cabinet which met on Thursday, decided form subcommittee which will be recommending to declare sanctuary as Ecologically Sensitive Areas (ESA) in the state.
The sub-committee would be headed by forest Minister while Chief Minister has been given power to make decisions about implementation of the recommendation.
Informing about the decision, Law Minister Madhuswamy said the Committee will discuss the details on declaring the national parks and Wildlife sanctuaries areas as ecological sensitive areas and will recommend the union government.
The farmers associations also opposed the report implementation, on this backdrop the cabinet decided to constitute a cabinet sub committee.
