Haryana government blocked internet service again in the Nuh district

Chandigarh: The Haryana government on Saturday issued an order blocking mobile internet and SMS services in the riot-hit Nuh district till August 28.

The district administration has already refused permission for the ‘Brij Mandal Jalabhisheka’ yatra, which the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) was planning to hold on August 28. However, the organization said it will not back down from its decision. In this context, measures have been taken to prevent anti-social elements from spreading rumors on social media, said the Additional Chief Secretary to the Government.

Communal conflict erupted when a mob attacked a Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) rally in Nuh on July 31. It also extended to Gurugram and surrounding areas.

A total of six people including two members of the Home Guard and a Muslim cleric were killed in the riots.

The government suspended mobile internet services from July 31 to August 8 to contain the riots. Later it was extended till August 13.
