J&K: Mehbooba Mufti protests against Hyderpora encounter, demands judicial inquiry

PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti protested against the Central government for allegedly “killing innocents in the name of militancy” and demanded the return of bodies to their families on Wednesday, India Today reported.

While leading the protest in Jammu, Mehbooba Mufti demanded a judicial inquiry into the Hyderpora encounter, saying that Kashmiris have neither surrendered in the past nor they will surrender now at gunpoint.

“We want a judicial inquiry into this incident. Strict punishment should be given to the guilty. It is unfortunate that three civilians were killed in the encounter. It has become a fashion to brand civilians killed in encounters as Over Ground Workers (OGWs). They have no proof to show that they were OGWs. Such incidents cause more anger among people against us,” said Mufti on Tuesday, according to India Today with inputs from Ashraf Wani.
