Member of a Hindutva group in Karnataka’s Vijayapura said that those in hijabs will be cut into pieces.
A video has gone viral on social media, in which ABVP activist, Pooja Veera Sheety, openly calls for Muslim genocide at an event organised to protest against the murder of a Bajrang Dal member, Harsha in Shivamogga.
“If you ask for water, we will give you juice. If you ask for milk, we’ll give you curd. But, if you want Hijab all over India, we will chop you all with Shivaji’s sword,” the ABVP member says while the crowd applauses and cheers for her statements.
Shetty’s hate speeches comes after a religious conclave in Haridwar by Hindutva leaders sparked outrage over open calls for genocide against Muslims in December last year.
“Saffron is India. We are happy with all the arrests that have been made, but it’s not enough. If you (government) cannot do it, give us 24 hours. Let the government give us just one hour not just these six girls in hijab, we’ll cut 60,000 in hijab into pieces,” Pooja says referring to the hijab controversy which first broke out at government PU college in Udupi.
On Sunday, 27-year-old Bajrang Dal member, Harsha Hindu, was stabbed to death by a group of people. Following the murder, right wing groups allegedly vandalised homes belonging to Muslims and set their vehicles on fire. During Harsha’s funeral procession, stone-pelting and instances of arson were reported in several parts of the city.
