Congress party in Karnataka has found itself in an embarrassing situation after a video emerged of a former member of Parliament and a media coordinator badmouthing DK Shivkumar, state unit president.
Former Lok Sabha Member of Parliament VS Ugrappa and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee media coordinator MA Salim can be heard talking in the video about a “scandal” involving Shivakumar, that allegedly has to do with him and his aides accepting bribes.
In the video clip, Salim says, “It was six to eight per cent before then it became 10 to 12 per cent. It is all DK adjustment. Mulgund (aide of DK) has made Rs 50-100 crore. Imagine if Mulgund has this, then how much DK has.”
Salim and VS Ugrappa also discuss how the KPCC president is of no use to the party.
“We all fought hard to make DK the president. But he hurt us and the party,” Ugrappa says.
They wonder if DK Shivakumar gets drunk because of his so-called stutter and also compare him to another senior Congress leader and former chief minister Siddaramaiah.
“He stutters while talking. I don’t know if it’s low BP or if he’s a drunkard. That’s what we discussed, media also asked if he was drinking then but he wasn’t. Siddaramaiah’s body language is kadak (smart),” Salim says.
Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time that Shivakumar has found himself involved in controversies because of the actions of the Congress functionary. The State party unit President Congress was also caught on camera slapping a party worker who tried to put his hand on his shoulder in July this year. The video of the incident had gone viral on social media.
