CD gate: Congress demands High Court-monitored probe

Kalaburagi:Leader of the opposition in the state assembly and Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday reiterated that Congress want investigation into the CD row involving BJP
leader Ramesh Jarkiholi to be monitored by Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court and not by the SIT.

Addressing media persons here, Mr Siddaramaiah said that the Congress has not softened its stand on the CD row involving BJP leader Ramesh Jarkiholi.

He said “In the Assembly also, we demanded a Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court supervised probe and now also our stand is the same. Even the woman in the CD has written a letter to the Chief Justice requesting the same. Let us see what the court says,” he said.

Siddaramaiah also said that the second wave of COVID-19 has started in Karnataka and there is a need to arrest it. For the sake of people’s health, the government should ban processions, protests and congregation for a fortnight, he said.

“Congress would have organised small gatherings with strict adherence to Covid norms and focus on house-to-house visit,” Siddaramaiah said when asked about his party’s approach to tackle Corona situation.
