Congress to Build Over 100 Houses in Wayanad: Rahul Gandhi

Wayanad: The landslide in Kerala’s Wayanad district is among the worst disasters the state has experienced and warrants special attention, said Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Friday.

After a meeting with Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, senior Congress leaders, district administration, and panchayat officials, Rahul Gandhi announced that the Congress party will construct over 100 houses in Wayanad to aid those affected by the landslide.

“This is a different level of tragedy and should be treated differently,” Gandhi stated, emphasizing the need for a distinct approach to address the disaster’s impact. He assured that he would raise the issue in Delhi and discuss it with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

During the meeting, officials briefed Rahul Gandhi on the death toll, the destruction of houses, and the ongoing search and rescue operations. Describing the landslide’s devastation as a “national disaster,” Rahul Gandhi called for an urgent and comprehensive action plan to manage the aftermath and aid recovery efforts.
