Death Toll Rises to Five in Bengaluru Building Collapse

Bengaluru: The death toll in the building collapse incident in Babusapalya has risen to five, as rescue teams continue their efforts to recover the remaining bodies.

The incident occurred on Tuesday amid heavy rainfall in the city. One worker was killed and his body was recovered on the same day.

“So far, five bodies have been recovered, and five others have been injured. We are still searching for three more people believed to be trapped,” D Devaraja, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East Bengaluru), stated.

The total number of people rescued thus far is 13. The collapsed building was seven stories tall, according to officials.

A preliminary investigation suggests that the entire building collapsed, trapping people underneath. Rescue teams from the fire and emergency department, National Disaster Response Force, and State Disaster Response Force have been deployed to the site.
