An FIR has been reportedly registered against Public TV’s Chief and anchor at the Gogi police station in Yadagiri district of Karnataka, VarthaBharti reported.
Public TV Head H. R. Ranganath and anchor/presenter Arun Badiger, during a program broadcasted on February 3, had said, “India was created based on it being a Hindu Rashtra.”
An individual named Bande Nawaz Gogi submitted a private complaint to the Shahpur Additional Judicial Magistrate, accusing both the TV personalities of attempting to hurt the sentiments of the Muslim community and harming the integrity of the nation through the utterance of such a prejudiced statement.
Representing the complainant, Advocate Mohammed Ghous, proposed arguments on his behalf, after which the court reviewed the complainant’s accusations and instructed for an FIR to be registered against Ranganath and Badiger on March 24.
FIR has been registered under the IPC sections 153 (b) 505 (1) (b) (c) and 505 (2) at the Gogi police station, according to VarthaBharti.
