Karnataka: CMO distributes one lakh cash with Diwali hamper to journalist , CM says unware

Diwali, a time when an array of sweets, dry fruits are gifted and good wishes are exchanged, however BS Bommai, the Karnataka Chief Minister had something else to offer. The Chief Minister’s Office added rupees one lakh in cash along with Diwali gift to journalists.

Janaadhikaara Sangharsha Parishath (JSP), an anti-corruption NGO, filed a Lokayukta complaint seeking a probe into the matter.

Social media sites are buzzing with memes and discussions on the matter. Meanwhile CM Bommai expressed that he was unaware of the cash distribution.

The Congress party taking a jibe at Bommai led government calling it a “40% sarkaar” questioned the act of distributing money to journalists and sought a probe into the matter

Congress’s Randeep Singh Sujrewala, tweeted,

“The #40PercentSarkar seeks to bribe the journalists with ₹1 Lakh cash! Will Mr. Bommai answer- 1. Isn’t it “bribe” being offered by CM? 2. What is the source of ₹1,00,000? Has it come from Public Exchequer or from CM himself? 3. Will ED/IT take note?”
