Karnataka Waqf Board plans to build 10 colleges which allow Hijab in classroom

Following the upholding of the Hijab ban in Karnataka by the High Court, the waqf board of Karnataka Waqf board plans to establish 10 colleges that allow hijab in the classrooms.

The said colleges will come up in Mangaluru, Shivamogga, Hassan, and Kodagu. The funds for these colleges will be raised by the waqf board.

This move comes after the Hijab ban in government colleges in Karnataka, following the Hijab ban in the state in March 2021. The HC’s decision was appealed in the Supreme court and a split verdict was given by a two-judge bench.
