Mangaluru: Two arrested in demolition of Christian prayer center

The Kavoor Police on Monday has arrested two persons in connection with the demolition of a Christian prayer centre at Panjimogaru earlier this month.

The arrested accused, identified as Latheesh (28), a resident of Bajpe, and Dhananjay (36), a resident of Kodikal, have been produced in the court and sent to judicial custody.

According to the police, neither of them has any criminal record. The reason for their action is under investigation.

On February 5, a Christian prayer center, run by St Antony Church of Kulur was demolished. The board members of the St Antony Holy Cross Building committee had filed a complaint and demanded the arrest of the accused of violating the court’s stay order. The hearing was scheduled for 14 February.

The miscreants had entered the establishment and razed the building, compound wall, and trees, using JCB. As per reports, an anganwadi was also being run at the premises.
