The state government has issued a notification for the recruitment of a total of 1000 village administrative officer posts in the remaining basic cadre and welfare Karnataka (local) cadre in the revenue department.

In the question and answer session of the Legislative Assembly on Monday (February 19), Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda informed that “a notification will soon be issued for the appointment of 1000 village accountants to speed up the work of the revenue department and provide simple administration to the people.” A new recruitment notification has been published after the minister’s statement.

Karnataka Examinations Authority has invited applications online for direct recruitment. Eligible candidates have to attend the competitive examination conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority to qualify for the recruitment of the said posts.

Village Administrative Officer will have a starting pay scale of Rs 21,400 to Rs 42,000. Eligible candidates having a second PUC or equivalent qualification and completed 18 years can apply.

This is a non-pensionable (NPS) post and the age limit is 35 years for generally qualified candidates, 38 years for Category 2A, 2B, 3A, and 3B candidates, and 40 years for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Category-1 candidates.

Application Procedure
The Application should be filled out online by selecting the link shown on the website of the authority http://kea.kar.nic.in. A candidate is allowed to apply for a particular district only.

No change/amendment of any information in the application once submitted is allowed at any stage. So candidates should carefully read and understand the notification and apply. If more than one application is submitted, only the application used to write the competitive examination will be considered and only for one district requested in the said application.

Application submission date and fee details
The starting date for online application is March 04, 2024. The last date for application is April 04, 2024. The last date for payment of the fee is April 06, 2024.

Fee payment is allowed online. A fee of Rs. 750 has been fixed for General Eligibility and Other Categories (Category 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B). Rs. 500/- for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Category-1, Ex-Serviceman and Physically Handicapped candidates.

Competitive Examination Procedure
The competitive examination for the posts of Village Administrative Officer is being conducted through Offline-OMR type. Candidates have to face a compulsory Kannada language test and two question papers.

The competitive exams will be held in all the district centers of the state. (District examination centers are subject to change for administrative purposes). Candidates have to download the exam admit cards from the website of the authority and appear for the exam on the prescribed date.

Compulsory Kannada Language Test
The compulsory Kannada language test is a multiple-choice model paper carrying a maximum of 150 marks. Candidates must score at least 50 marks to qualify. Candidates who do not score a minimum of 50 marks will not be eligible for selection. (Marks obtained in compulsory Kannada language test will not be considered for selection of posts)

Paper 1- 100 marks, 2 hrs
General knowledge topics related to current events. (b) Subjects of Daily Comprehension (c) Subjects of School View of Constitution of India. (d) History of India with special reference to Karnataka. (e) Geography of India about Karnataka. (f) Matters relating to State and Territorial Administration. (g) Matters relating to the development of the economy of Karnataka including initiatives related to Rural Development Panchayat Raj Institutions and Rural Co-operative Societies. (h) Matters relating to environmental issues and development of Karnataka.

Paper 2- 100 marks, 2 hrs
The test will be conducted on (a) General Kannada (b) General English (c) Computer Knowledge subject.

Negative evaluation
Each question in the competitive examination question papers has 04 alternative answers and the candidate has to select only one correct answer. One-fourth (1/4) marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.

The question papers of the competitive exam will be in both Kannada and English languages. If there is any discrepancy in the translation of the questions in Kannada, candidates should refer to the English questions.
