Police have arrested 8 people in connection with the murder of a Muslim youth for having a love affair with a Hindu woman. Khan’s car dealer Arbaaz Aftab Mulla’s head was cut off and his body thrown on railway tracks. On September 28, the railway staff informed the police about the incident. The deceased’s mother Nizamma Sheikh came to the spot and saw the the dead body.
Nizamma Sheikh, a government school teacher lodged a complaint with the police. In her complaint, she said that some right-wing activists had threatened her and her son. The girl’s father, Pundalika Maharaja, belonged to the organization and threatened to kill her son. He then proceeded to negotiate with the money. Earlier, Arbaaz had paid Rs. 7,000. However, he refused the amount and demanded to pay Rs. 90,000. And his mother had told Arbaaz to pay the sum.
“The girl’s father had come to me and threatened me. He said to me, I already have 40 cases pending. I am not afraid if another case is registered. There are many number of supporters with me and told me to come to Khanapur to face the police. There were only a handful of people when we went there. The girl’s mother told me that this would end the relationship,” Arbaz’s mother said.
“What was the need for the outsiders to intervene when two families agreed to negotiate? When I asked him, Maharaja got very angry. He said a Muslim man cannot have a relationship with a Hindu girl. But I didn’t know this case was going to be murder. I will fight until the guilty are punished,” the victim’s mother said.
Meanwhile, AIMIM Secretary-General Lateesh Khan Pathan, speaking on the case, said that if the assassins were not arrested by Wednesday, they would protest on Friday. Also, AIMIM will invite Asaduddin Owaisi for the protest.
