Lok Adalat disposes of highest number of cases

Hubballi: A record number of 10,704 pending cases in various courts in Dharwad district were settled through a Mega E-Adalat and an amount of Rupees 35.50 Crores were collected as part of the settlements, according to an official press release here on Monday.


In all a total of 33 benches, 16 in Hubballi, 11 in Dharwad and Two each in Kundagol, Navalgund and Kalghatgi were created to hear the cases attended by all the Judges in the district.


The Mega E-adalat held on Saturday was presided over by the Principal District Judge Umesh M Adiga and was attended by several Lawyers representing Petitioners, different Insurance companies, State Road Transport Corporation, the press release said.


Justice R.S. Chinnannavar, Senior Judge and Secretary of the Dharwad district legal Services committee, there were a total of 15,126 cases to hear out of which 10,704 cases were settled through mutual agreements and more than Rupees 35.50 Crores were collected.


In Dharwad, the Proceedings were conducted under the guidance of Justice Somasekhar, Senior Judge of the Dharwad Bench of the Karnataka High out. As well as out of a total of 835 cases, 301 cases were Settled and an amount of Rupees 6.82 Crores were collected. According to details provided by Mr. Rona Vasudeva, Secretary of the Law committee of the Dharwad Bench of the Karnataka High Court, the Press note added.


While in Hubballi, a Total of 6241 cases were settled through mutual agreement. They included 594 cases under NI Act, 830 Criminal and 85 Criminal compoundable cases, 11 Extortion, 26 Accident cases, 31 Marriage disputes, 254 Civil and 4357 light cases, the press release said.
