Madhya Pradesh: Mallikarjuna Kharge announces 6 promises including caste census

Congress president Mallikarjuna Kharge has said that Congress will conduct a caste census in the state after winning the Madhya Pradesh assembly elections.

Addressing a public rally at Sagar in Bundelkhand region of Madhya Pradesh, Mallikarjuna Kharge said that farmers’ loans will be waived off if the Congress comes to power. LPG will be available for Rs.500. 1500 per month for women. We are going to implement an old pension scheme for government employees. Electricity bill free up to 100 units. We will conduct a caste census in the state as well. Now we have six backward class people in our working committee.

The BJP government has not implemented the Bundelkhand package approved on the recommendation of senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. He alleged that they have done nothing for violence-hit Manipur.

Commenting on Modi’s Rs 100-crore memorial and temple foundation stone for Sant Ravidas, Kharge said he laid the foundation stone of the temple of Sant Ravidas, revered by Scheduled Caste people in Sagar, but destroyed it in Delhi. He alleged that PM Modi remembers Saint Ravidas only during elections.

According to the 2011 census, the Dalit population in Madhya Pradesh is 1.13 crore.
