New Delhi: Anil Deshmukh, the Former Home Minister of Maharashtra government who is facing charges in the case related to alleged money laundering, has requested the Enforcement Directorate to give him exemption from appearing in person citing health issues.
In the letter written to ED, Deskhmukh has said that because of Covid pandemic and his health issues, he could join the interrogation personally. However he has said that he is ready to record his statement via audio or video calls.
He said that also sought a list of documents which the agency is seeking for investigation. Meanwhile it is learnt that the ED has not taken any action on the letter.
Deshmukh claims that he has already met several officials of ED and got his statements recorded during the interrogation that lasted for several hours.
It may be noted that the agency has directed the Former Minister to appear personally for questioning in the money laundering case where Deshmukh has been alleged of involvement in a huge bribery and extortion case. The Former Minister was supposed to join the probe on Tuesday.
