Restaurant owners welcome Maharashtra government decision to allow restaurants to operate till midnight

Restaurant owners welcome Maharashtra government decision to permit restaurants to operate till midnight, according to a new notification issued by state chief secretary Sitaram Kunte.

Hotel owner and member of Indian Hotel and Restaurant Association, Niranjan Shetty said, “It is a wise decision. We’ll take all precautions and follow all the SOPs.”

The notification read, “… all restaurants and eateries may be allowed to function till midnight 12 AM and all other establishments that have been allowed to function by the government may be allowed to function till 11 PM.”

The state government has also mentioned that during the festive season, restrictions on time of functioning for various establishments like shops, restaurants, hotels, etc., will lead to more crowding in a shorter period of time in which they are at current allowed to function.

The Maharashtra government has permitted the reopening of amusement parks, theatres and drama theatres from October 22. However, water rides in amusement parks have still not been allowed, it added.
