Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut’s House raided by ED

After Sanjay Raut ignored two summonses to appear for interrogation in a money-laundering case, Enforcement Directorate (ED) agents searched his house in Mumbai and questioned him on Sunday. The investigation agency summoned the Shiv Sena leader on July 27 after he ignored a previous summon citing the ongoing Parliamentary session in Delhi.

The agency wants to interview him about the reconstruction of a chawl in Mumbai. A close assistant to Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray, Mr. Raut, has denied any wrongdoing and claimed that he is the target of political retaliation.

The 60-year-old Mr. Raut is sought for questioning by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in relation to the redevelopment of a chawl in Mumbai and other transactions involving his wife and close friends.
Mr. Raut, who supports Uddhav Thackeray, has claimed that he is the victim of political retaliation and has denied any wrongdoing.

In the struggle to control Shiv Sena in the wake of Eknath Shinde’s uprising, which toppled the Maha Vikas Aghadi administration and forced Uddhav Thackeray out of his position as chief minister, Mr. Raut has come out in favour of the Thackerays.
