Violence again in Manipur: 13 dead on Myanmar border

13 people were killed in a gunfight between two groups in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district. PTI reported that the incident took place in Leithu village on Monday afternoon.

“The violence took place when a group of militants who were on their way to Myanmar were ambushed and fired upon by another group of insurgents who are strong in the same region,” an official said.

The security forces who reached the spot have so far recovered 13 bodies, whose identities are yet to be ascertained. But he said that he is not local.

It seems that the deceased is not from the Leithu region. The official said that they might have come from another place.

Mobile Internet Restoration

Meanwhile, the Manipur government has restored mobile internet services across the state from Sunday (December 2) to December 18, barring a few areas, the notification said.

“Considering the law and order reform and inconvenience faced by people due to the ban on mobile internet, the state government has decided to relax the suspension,” the notification said.
