N V Ramana is the new CJI, succeeds S. A. Bodade

New Delhi: With the term of Chief Justice of India, S. A. Bobade ended on Friday itself, Nuthalapati Venkata Ramana has become the new CJI  who was sworn in by President Ram Nath Kovid on Saturday.

Justice Ramana has become the 48th Chief Justice of India after taking oath at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Native of Andhra Pradesh, Ramana became Chief Justice of Delhi HC in 2013 and later he became one the justices in SC in 2014.

The 64 year old Justice Ramana has vast experience of working in Andhra Pradesh and in Apex Court.

Having gained expertise in different laws of Constitution, interstate river water disputes etc, he has also worked as standing counsel for Indian Railway in the Central Administrative Tribunal at Hyderabad.

In the last seven year of service in Apex Court, he has passed 156 judgments.
