NBDSA asked TimesNow to remove debates on Delhi Riots, as it is ‘Not impartial and Objective’ and violated the Ethics code

Justice AK Sikri, Chairperson of News Broadcasting & Digital Standards Authority stated in order against TimesNow that, ‘Anchor of any program should avoid pushing any agenda in the debate”.

The order states that TimesNow Prime Time Debate was not objective and impartial, thus violating journalistic ethics. The decision arose in a complaint against the channel in covering during the Delhi Riots.

The complaint was filed against two anchors – Rahul Shivshankar and Padma Joshi. The channel is alleged that it does not cover the Delhi riots on the basis of facts. It further states that the news channel was selective in choosing the views and updates on riots.

Advocate Utkarsh alleged that the coverage was done to target a particular community. This was plane violation of Fundamental principle 4 of the Code of Ethics.

NBDSA has directed the news channel to remove the videos immediately from any website, social media channels, and streaming platforms.
