Delhi Chalo protest Another farmer dies: Sixth death in 15 days

Another Punjabi farmer who was protesting as part of Delhi Chalo died near the Khanauri border and suffered a heart attack in Rajinder Government Hospital.

According to Indian Kisan Union (Revolutionary) representatives, the deceased farmer has been identified as Karnail Singh (62). He is a resident of Arno Khurd village near Patran.

Along with the death of Karnail Singh, a total of six farmers who had participated in the Delhi Chalo march so far have died in the last fortnight. According to Surjeet Singh Phool, president of the Indian Kisan Union (Revolutionary), Karnail Singh was said to have contracted a lung infection after ingesting the fumes from the tear gas shell fired by the police near the Khanauri border on February 21.

Karnail Singh is survived by his wife, two sons, and three daughters. BKU (Revolutionary) representatives said that Karnail Singh owned one and a half acres of land and was a borrower of eight lakh rupees.
