Delhi HC slams TVF’s web series for its inappropriate language and usage of expletives

Delhi High Court slammed The Viral Fever’s (TVF) latest web series titled ‘College Romance’ for its usage of vulgar and obscene language.

The court said “The language of TVF web series “College Romance” does not pass moral decency community test, transgresses into area of obscenity”

The court said that there is urgent attention required to regulate content on social media and OTT platforms and to enact appropriate laws and guidelines for it.

Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma said, “use of vulgar language in public domain and social media platforms which are open to children of tender age needs to be taken seriously”, it said, “the web series does deprave the morality of the impressionable minds.”

The court further said, “The individualistic choice which is not the choice of the majority of people of this country cannot be portrayed as choice of that majority and to be broadcasted on the ground or assumption that youth of this country speak such foul or profane language.”

The court was hearing petitions filed by TVF Media Labs Pvt. Ltd., the casting director of the online series “College Romance,” and the show’s lead actors in opposition to orders made by the sessions court and ACMM requesting the filing of a formal complaint (FIR) against them.
