Opposition extends support to farmers, attends ‘Kisan Sansad’

New Delhi: Expressing solidarity with the farmers who are protesting against three farm laws formulated by the Modi government, the members of 14 opposition parties of the country participated in the ‘Kisan Sansad’ at Jantar Mantar on Friday.

Leading the rally, Congress leader, Rahul Gandhi, met the farmers along with other leaders of the different parities who have been showing unity against the Modi government on farm laws and Snooping case.

The farmers are holding Kisan Sansad or Parliament of Farmers alongside the ongoing monsoon session of parliament.

The farmers have been agitating for the last about nine months after the Modi government passed three farm Acts.

Meanwhile, the parties who joined the protest are DMK, TMC, NCP, Shiv Sena, RJD, Samajwadi Party, CPI-M, AAP, CPI, IUML, RSP, NC and LJD.

The leaders reached Jantar Mantar to meet the protesting farmers and expressed their solidarity.

The farmers however had made it clear that political parties will not get a chance to address the protestors and will only sit in the areas reserved for the visitors.

Interestingly, in their mock parliament, the farmers passed no confidence motion against the government.
