PM Modi appeals the Kumba organizers to make the event symbolic to prevent spreading of Covid

New Delhi: Kumba organizers After facing strong criticism for allowing Mahakumba in Haridwar which is reportedly become superspreader for Covid, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has intervened in the matter by appealing Saints of the Kumbha to make it symbolic affair to prevent the spreading of Covid.

Claiming that he has spoken to Swami Avdheshanand Giri of Juna Akhara on the issue, he said that he has also found out about the health of other saints who have tested Covid positive.

“Today, I spoke to Swami Avdheshanand Giri of Juna Akhara over the telephone and enquired about the health of saints. Every saint is cooperating with the administration. I extended my gratitude to all saint for this,” he tweeted in Hindi.

“I prayed that two ‘Shahi Snans’ have been done and now, the Kumbh should be kept symbolic. It will help us strengthen our fight against the crisis,” Modi said in another tweet.

The appeal has come at the time when the country is recording highest Covid cases every day and also the reports of several devotees getting infected from Covid.
