Rajasthan: Senior Congress leader urges Gehlot to step down from contention for CM post in the next election and encourage youth

As the tussle between Ashok Gehlot and Sachin pilot hogs the limelight, a senior Congress leader from Rajasthan, MLA Bharat Singh Kundapur said that if Congress were to retain power in the state for the next term, then Gehlot must publicly announce that he will not be a contender of the CM post and will promote young leadership.

He said, should Gehlot announce this, the “map will change” and warned that that attachment to power is more intoxicating than alcohol.

The MLA also decided not to contest the next Rajasthan legislative assembly elections in order to give a chance to the youth. He currently represents Kota in the Sangod constituency.

He urged Gehlot to encourage the youth because when the “shopkeeper gets old”, the new generation takes his place.

But the Rajasthan Congress party’s in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa said, that candidates will be allotted party tickets based on winnability and will not be chosen by age.
