Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar said on Tuesday that the DMK or its chief MK Stalin will be approached about the decision to include the AIADMK in the INDIA alliance.
The AIADMK on Monday officially announced that it has ended its four-year association with the BJP. With this, they walked out of the NDA alliance. It has said that it will lead a separate front for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
“DMK is a part of the INDIA alliance,” Pawar said when asked by reporters if there would be an attempt to bring AIADMK under the India block. So he said that no decision will be taken without consulting DMK or Stalin.
The INDIA alliance is a coalition of 28 opposition parties that aims to take on the BJP-led NDA in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
AIADMK alliance with NDA alliance ends
Ahead of the 2024 general elections, Tamil Nadu’s AIADMK officially broke its alliance with the BJP-led NDA on Monday.
AIADMK Deputy Coordinator K.P. Speaking at the party headquarters in Chennai, Munusamy said, “The AIADMK is severing all ties with the BJP and NDA alliance from today.”
“The state leadership of the BJP has been continuously making unnecessary criticisms about our former leaders, our workers and our general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami for the past one year,” he said.
“The party MLAs have passed a unanimous resolution in the meeting held in this regard. The party will form a new alliance and face the upcoming parliamentary elections on its own,” he announced.
