OBC Wing leader of BJP stabbed to death in Madurai, probe on

A 35-year-old BJP functionary was stabbed to death during the early hours of Thursday in Madurai in Tamil Nadu. The deceased has been identified as Sakthivel.

He used to be the district secretary of the OBC wing of BJP and was also involved in vehicle financing.
Sakthivel was attacked while he was on his way to a warehouse in Sangu Nagar. The brutal assault and subsequent tragedy took place around 6 am. It was shortly after Sakthivel departed from his home in Vallanathapuram. There were some people who witnessed the tragic unfolding of event. As per the information given by the eye witnesses, Sakthivel was ambushed by a group of assailants who pursued home and viciously attacked him.

The eye witnesses notified the Anna Nagar police after watching the incident. The victim was identified by the police and his body was retrieved and was thereby sent to Rajaji Government Hospital for postmortem.

The police have also launched an investigation into the murder. Preliminary findings into the murder suggests that the motive behind the attack might be linked to a dispute which late Sakthivel had in connection with the sale of a goods carrier vehicle. The CCTV footage is also being scanned by the police in order to identify the perpetrators. Further investigation is underway.
