Rise in Covid cases, masks made mandatory in Tamil Nadu

With rise in Covid-19 cases, the Tamil Nadu government has made masks mandatory in the state yet again. Action will be taken against those not wearing masks and not following all COVID-19 precautionary measures, according to a press release from the department of health and family welfare, The News Minute reported.

Pushing the caseload to 34,68,344, Tamil Nadu’s daily coronavirus cases rose sharply as 1,472 infections were logged on Sunday. No new Covid-related death were recorded in the last 24 hours and the death count remained unchanged at 38,026. In the last 24 hours as many as 691 people have recovered from the disease, taking the total count to 34,22,860 leaving 7,458 active cases.

Chennai alone accounted for the majority of cases at 624, followed by Chengalpet 241, Coimbatore 104 while the remaining were reported in 33 other districts, NDTV reported.
