Vaccination certificate in Bengal to have CM Mamata’s picture instead of PM Modi

The clash between PM Modi and West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee is unlikely to end anytime soon. Certainly, this is why Banerjee has now put her photo in place of the picture of PM Modi’s in the COVID-19 vaccination certificate issued to the people after taking the shot.

Meanwhile, a few days ago, there was a political uproar when the Chhattisgarh government issued a certificate with the picture of CM Bhupesh Baghel, to those taking the corona vaccine; instead of the Prime Minister. Now the West Bengal government is also issuing a printed photo of CM Mamta Banerjee instead of PM Modi on giving Covid vaccination certificate in the state.

It is said that Banerjee’s picture will be printed on all the certificates that the state government will buy. It means that those in the age group of 18-45 years old who will be vaccinated against Covid will have a certificate with pictures of Banerjee on it. Even during the recent assembly elections in the state, Mamata’s party had complained to the Election Commission about PM Modi’s picture on the vaccination certificate. They had alleged that PM’s picture is a violation of the election code of conduct. Therefore, Mamta had also raised several questions on the Centre’s vaccine policy.

Bengal CM further stated that the Central government is not providing vaccines to the state governments. The Centre should provide the vaccine to all the states free of cost. She had also requested many industrial chambers to fund the disaster department of the state government, and in return, the Centre would give them the vaccine.
