Democracy has been throttled by the current Trinamool Congress led regime: ISF

In a press release, Indian Secular Front says, in West Bengal, democracy has been throttled by the current Trinamool Congress led regime. By arresting an elected Assembly Member, the Mamata Banerjee led government has proved that it no longer believe in constitutional democracy. It is high time to come forward and protect democracy. The West Bengal State Committee of the Indian Secular Front after an emergency meeting has called upon every people to protest against the arrest of its Chairman and MLA Md. Nawsad Siddiqui, State Committee Secretary Biswajit Maity and other ISF workers. They have been remanded to police custody till 1st February. In the evening, the Working President of the party Samsur Ali Mullick strongly condemned the arrest of Nawsad Siddiqui and others. He said, it is strange to see that the goons led by Trinamool Congress leader Arabul Islam are not arrested inspite of the fact that they attacked the MLA, vandalised his car and injured scores of ISF supporters. He further said, it is clear that constitutional democracy is in peril here. ISF has decided to launch a massive movement against this atrocity. It will go door to door campaign from tomorrow and will held meetings in different parts of the state in the afternoon. There will be a citizen march on Wednesday afternoon from Sealdah to Dharmatala by different civic movement organisations. On the Republic Day, ISF will observe ‘Save Constitution Day’. On 29th of this month ISF will submit memorandum in different police stations of the state. Plans are afoot to held an all party convention. The date would be announced shortly. Also ISF will meet the Governer of West Bengal soon.
