West Bengal Legislative Assembly passes resolution condemning Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal’s remarks

Kolkata: With Protests taking place in the country and abroad against insulting comments on Prophet Muhammad by BJP spokespersons, Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal, demands have been made to arrest the two.

In this situation, the West Bengal government brought a motion condemning the remarks of Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly session.

The motion of condemnation was tabled by Minister Partha Chatterjee in the State Assembly, on Monday.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, “I do not support the statements of some leaders at all. These were part of a larger plan to spread hatred among some communities before the Lok Sabha elections.”

Meanwhile reacting to this motion, opposition Party (BJP) chanted slogans against the Mamta government and staged a walk-out from the Assembly.
