The inclusion of JDS in the BJP-led NDA alliance has created resentment among many members of the JDS. Several JDS leaders left the party after the BJP-JDS alliance. Now, Muslim leaders of the party in Mysore have resigned en masse from the JDS.
JD(S) state secretary Shahid and many others have resigned from the party. “It is not right that a secular party has formed an alliance with a communal party,” he expressed displeasure.
“We left Congress and joined JDS as JDS is a secular party. However, the party has formed an alliance with the communal party. This is not a secular move. When the BJP government was in power in the state, there were acts of destroying harmony. “Alliance with that party is not right,” he said.
