Asia Cup to be held in Pakistan

New Delhi: The Asia Cup will be held in a very unique way in September this year. Pakistan will host the event for the first time in the tournament’s history while Team India’s matches will be played at a neutral venue away from Pakistan.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are fighting over the hosting rights of the Asia Cup, with India refusing to travel to Pakistan for the tournament to a neutral venue.
According to the ESPN Cricinfo website, the PCB and BCCI are working in different directions. That means Pakistan will host most of the matches, while only India’s matches are likely to be held at a venue overseas. The overseas location is yet to be finalized. UAE, Oman, Sri Lanka, and England are also potential contenders to host five matches, including at least two India-Pakistan contests.
India and Pakistan are in the same group as the qualifiers for the Six Nations Asia Cup 2023. It is planned to be held in the first half of September this year in the format of 50 overs. Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan are part of the other group.
