It is Australia vs New Zealand and the audience at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket association (HPCA) are having a great time witnessing one of the most enthralling matches of the World Cup, 2023. As it is only half the way through the match, at 25 overs where Australia has already crossed the benchmark of 200 runs with some stellar performances produced by Travis Head who made a remarkable century (109) and David Warner (81). Both of their wickets were taken by Glenn Phillips in the 19.1 overs and 23.2 overs respectively.
New Zealand won the toss and decided to bowl first and their bowling was oppressed by the Aussies as they started performing fearlessly from the starting of the match only. New Zealand pacer Trent Boult is yet to take wickets while he has already given 30 runs in his 4 over while Matt Henry has showed poor performance in his spell of 3 overs where he has given a total of 44 runs without taking any wickets. Mitchell Santner has also given 43 runs in his spell of 5 overs with 0 wickets.
Although, the first partnership is broken, if Australia continues even with a slower pace in order to adjust itself, then also the team can easily create a massive target of 400 runs in front of the Kiwis. It will be very interesting to see, who amongst the Kiwis is able to take the pressure against a big team like Australia. In the ICC World Cup, Australia has a far better record as they are leading against New Zealand by a big margin of 8-3. But, in the last few years, the cricket of both nation has undergone monumental changes out of which Kiwis has emerged as a much better team.
