Australia Vs South Africa: South Africa thrashes the Aussies, claims their second consecutive win

In another high paced match, South Africa beats Australia by a huge margin of 134 runs. The Aussies had to wrap up for 177 runs at 40.5 overs. By this win, South Africa claimed its second consecutive win in the World Cup Tournament, 2023.

Pat Cummins won the toss and decided to field first at the Ekana International Stadium in Lucknow on Thursday. South Africa was benefitted with a strong batting line-upline-up with Quinton de Kock, hitting his 51st century by making 109 runs for 106 balls before being knocked out by Glenn Maxwell. The second longest partnership was between Aiden Markram and Josh Hazlewood where they both made 56 and 26 runs respectively. From the Australian side, it was Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Starc who took wickets each.

The second innings saw the batting line-up of the Australian team where it was only Marnus Labuschagne who managed to hit a close half century by contributing 46 runs while the rest of the team had to settle at 177 runs with David Warner and Steven Smith making 13 and 19 runs respectively. The big hitter, Glenn Maxwel’s big shot was caught by Keshav Maharaj. The maximum wickets were taken by Kagiso Rabada while Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi took two wickets each.

Australia has its next match lined up with Sri Lanka while South Africa’s next match is with Netherlands. Both the teams are strong contenders and it will be interesting to see which team makes up to the knockout games.
