Rashid Khan to Miss Out in T20 Series against India

On the eve of the first T20I match in Mohali, Captain Ibrahim Zadran has confirmed that Rashid Khan will not be able to take part in the upcoming three-match series against India. The 25-year-old, star Afghani leg spinner, who recently underwent back surgery, is still in the process of recovering.

Zadran, despite acknowledging the fact that, Rashid’s absence would leave a void in the team, is confident on the skill of their other spinners. He has said, “Without Rashid, we will struggle as his experience is invaluable, but even in his absence, we have got quality spinners in Mujeeb [Ur Rahman], [Mohammad] Nabi, Noor [Ahmad] and Qais [Ahmad] All of them have played a lot of cricket, and we have trust in them.”

He also feels that, there is room for improvement in batting department as he has stated, “”We have quality spinners and seamers, but we need to improve our batting skills; we will try to be more aggressive in that area.”

Afghanistan had a successful World Cup campaign last year as they had defeated some big teams like Pakistan, Sri Lanka and England.
India will play Afghanistan in a three match T20I series which will start from 11th January onwards. The first T20I will be played in Mohali.
