Sunil Gavaskar lashes out at Shubhman Gill for throwing a wicket in India vs England 1st Test

Sunil Gavaskar was not happy for giving his wicket in the first Test against England at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Friday.

It was during the fifth ball of the 35th over, Hartley tossed one up on Gill’s pads. Gill played 66 balls and scored 23 runs with one of the most slowest strike rate among all batters and was out caught at mid-wicket. Gavaskar, who was doing the commentary lashed out at Shubhman Gill saying, “What kind of a shot was he looking to play? One can understand if he was looking to play it in the air but it was just a badly executed on-drive. He did all the hard work and then played a shot like that.”

By throwing his wicket, Gill also became the maiden Test wicket for the England spinner Tom Hartley who debuted in the test match.
