‘Will play IPL until I can’t walk anymore’: Glenn Maxwell

Glenn Maxwell had an unforgettable year in 2023.
Starting from the IPL success to the World Cup win, he surely has many moments to relish for his lifetime. One of the most memorable moments which he had in the world cup was his performance in match against Afghanistan where Australia was on the verge to lose the match but at time Maxwell appeared as the saviour for the whole team.

He smashed an unbeaten 201 and thereby orchestrated a stunning 292-run chase in the group stage encounter in Mumbai. He did this impossible thing when his team was reeling at 91/7 at one of the stage groups matches. After that, it was no other than Maxwell who hit hitting the winning runs for Australia in the one-sided final against India, securing a 6-wicket victory in Ahmedabad.

Maxwell had found new position with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League after a period of some inconsistent performances with his previous franchise, Punjab Kings. In the 2021 IPL season. Maxwell showcased his progress by making 513 runs for RCB at a strike rate of 144. Despite the tight schedule of the cricket season which encompassed a five-match T20I series against India just after finishing off with the World Cup, Maxwell is yet again charged to the game. On his return to action with the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League, Maxwell also expressed his enthusiasm and excitedness for the IPL, pressing his desire to participate in the tournament until he “can’t walk anymore.” He said: “The IPL will probably be the last tournament I ever play, as I will play the IPL until I can’t walk anymore,” Maxwell said at Melbourne Airport on Wednesday.

“I was talking about how good the IPL has been to me throughout my career; the people I’ve met, the coaches I have played under, the international players that you get to rub shoulders with, how beneficial to my whole career that tournament has been,” he added.
