ICC slaps fine to Sri Lanka for maintaining slow pace in ODI

Colombo: Maintaining slow pace during second One Day International match between Sri Lanka and India has proved costly for the former as it has to shell out 20 % of their match fee on Thursday.

The ICC fined Sri Lankan team during Tuesday’s match.

According to reports, Match Referee of ICC, Ranjan Madugalle fined it was found that it was one over short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration in the match on Tuesday.
In a release, ICC said that as per the code of the ICC for ODI, the team has found guilty of article 2.22 which is related to maintenance of time during the play. Since the team has violated the norm, therefore, a fine has been imposed.

Meanwhile Sri Lankan captain has admitted to the violation and accepted the fine.

The charged were framed by Umpires Kumar Dharmasena and Lyndon Hannibal, third umpire Ruchira Palliyaguruge and fourth umpire Prageeth Rambukwella. India is leading the series by 2-1 in three game matches. Both teams will now play their final match on Friday.
