Indian Women Boxers set history for India by securing seven gold medals

New Delhi: Displaying their best performance in boxing, the women boxers of India have created history by winning seven gold medals in Kielce, Poland at the 2021 AIBA Youth Men’s and Women’s World Boxing Championships.

The boxers Gitika in 48kg category ,  Naorem Babyrojisana Chanu in 51kg, Poonam in 57kg, Vinka in 60kg, Arundhati Choudhary  in69kg, T Sanamacha Chanu  in75kg and Alfiya Pathan in 81 kg categories respectively registered victories and secured gold medals.

In the past, the Indian women boxers had secured five gold medals  2017 edition of World Championships held in Guwahati.

With seven gold, India women team got first position in the ongoing Championship ahead of Russia.

Asian Youth Champion Sanamacha, who is also trainers at Mary Kom’s academy in Imphal, defeated Kazakhstan’s Dana Diday 5-0 in the 75kg final.

In the championship the  young boxer of Maharashtra, Alfiya secured seventh gold for India as she defeated European Youth Champion Moldova’s Daria Kozorez 5-0 in the final.
