New Zealand Secured a Comfortable Win Against Bangladesh

New Zealand dominated Bangladesh as both sides met in Chennai on Friday for the 11th match of Men’s Cricket World Cup ’23. New Zealand won by 8 wickets after winning the toss and deciding to bowl first.

He and skipper Shakib Al Hasan steadied the Bangladesh’s ship as they were tottering after losing 56 for 4 in 12.1 overs. After that, Mahmudullah’s late order cameo of 41 not out of 49 balls helped Bangladesh to score 245 for the loss of 9 wickets in their 50 overs. Lockie Ferguson was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed 3 wickets for 49 runs in his quota of 10 overs. Trent Boult and Matt Henry picked up two wickets each. Mitch Santner and Glenn Phillips picked up 1 wicket each.

In reply, New Zealand lost their opener Rachin Ravindra early. But Devon Conway (45 of 59 balls), skipper Kane Williamson (78 of 107 balls) and Daryl Mitchell (89 not out of 67 balls) helped them them to chase them the target with 7.1 overs to spare. For Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman and Shakib Al Hasan picked up 1 wicket each.

Lockie Ferguson was announced as the player of the match for his bowling display. He in the post- match presentation has said, “It was a classic team effort from the Black Caps. Everyone bowled really, created pressure throughout and then I could come in and do my role. Compared to what we had in Hyderabad this had more bounce, I tried to test it out early and if it is working then stick to it, I pushed them back and then bowled the full ball. It is early stages but nice to get three wins. We are enjoying our time and the group is being great back together, looking forward to the next game.”
